Rev. Brett Cushing, Christian Counselor, Ordained Minister and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Board Approved Supervisor operating in Eden Prairie. Helping individuals, couples and families to manage mental health issues and relationship problems, to include Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, Borderline Personality Disorder, Behavioral Addictions, ADHD, Grief, Marriage and Family issues and challenges relative to faith. Brett has been a Pastor and a Therapist for over 25 years. Faith can be integrated into therapy as much as clients desire.

 I've been married for 31 years and have 3 adult kids (two who are married). I am active in my church as Teacher in the Men’s Ministry and Leader in the Regeneration Ministry. I enjoy laughing as much as possible, spending time with family, hiking, and studying biblical theology, psychology and philosophy. 

Why I am a Christian Therapist

My graduate and doctoral studies in Psychology and Theology focused on how the Bible and psychology address human problems. Both conclude that control is the root issue—what Scripture calls sin, psychology describes as various disorders. Various ways of seeking independence from God leads to significant pain and a less-than-optimal life. The solution is continually learning immediate surrender and delightful dependence on Jesus, who brings true freedom, joy, and peace. My approach has been shaped by Scripture, psychological research, personal experiences and decades of walking alongside others through their pain.

Professional Trainings and Certificates

I am trained and experienced in various forms of trauma therapy to include EMDR, Prolonged Exposure Therapy and Sand Tray Therapy. I am a trained and seasoned DBT Therapist and have started and Lead DBT Teams for many years. I am also certified in ADHD and am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I am adept in working with people experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, bipolar, borderline personality, trauma, ADHD, sexual abuse, behavioral addictions and a host of other mental health disorders. I have worked with, adults, couples, first responders, teens and clergy. My goal is to empower clients towards the life they desire for themselves.
